Outpost

Nature Therapy, Mobile Therapy, and Accessible In-Home Therapy

The Mobile Therapy Van (The Outpost) is officially on the move. The first and only therapy office of it’s kind in Alberta, the Outpost was established to bring the therapy experience closer to you, and you closer to Nature. Walk and Talk and Mobile sessions are offered at various nature space locations throughout Calgary, or your psychologist can come to your home. Mobile sessions allow for flexibility for your psychologist to meet with you in the van, meet in your home, go for a walk, or a combination of these options. The Outpost offers a private and confidential area to meet with your psychologist and contains a therapy area, beverage station, and (importantly) snacks. The location for your Mobile/Walk and Talk therapy sessions will be discussed with your psychologist.

Walk and Talk Therapy

Come on OUT!

Movement is medicine. There is a growing body of research that shows the physical environment can aid in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of mental health issues. Engagement and exposure to natural environments can have many health benefits and walking with a therapist can feel more relaxing and less intense than sitting in an office. Moving our bodies outdoors while engaging in therapy can change our brains, improve our mood, and improve symptoms of complex trauma and burnout. The origins of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) began with Francine Shapiro taking a walk in the park. SO! Snow or shine, let’s get outside.

*Cascade Health offers accessible options for outdoor therapy.
