The Calgary Outpost
Nature Therapy, Walk and Talk, Mobile Therapy, and Accessible In-Home Therapy
Only at Cascade Health in Calgary, the Outpost brings therapy closer to you. Through mobile sessions, walk-and-talk care, and flexible meeting spaces across Calgary’s natural areas.
As Alberta’s first therapy office of its kind, the Outpost was created to bring the therapy experience closer to your life, and closer to nature. Sessions can take place in the van, in your home, outdoors, or through a combination of spaces that best support your comfort and goals.
Designed to feel private, welcoming, and grounded, the Outpost includes a confidential therapy space, a beverage station, and of course, snacks.
Your mobile or walk-and-talk session can begin wherever feels most supportive: a favorite green space, your neighbourhood, your home, or another location within Calgary.
Walk and Talk Therapy
Come on OUT!
Movement is medicine. There is a growing body of research that shows the physical environment can aid in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of mental health issues. Engagement and exposure to natural environments can have many health benefits and walking with a therapist can feel more relaxing and less intense than sitting in an office. Moving our bodies outdoors while engaging in therapy can change our brains, improve our mood, and improve symptoms of complex trauma and burnout. The origins of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) began with Francine Shapiro taking a walk in the park. SO! Snow or shine, let’s get outside.
*Cascade Health offers accessible options for outdoor therapy.
