Areas of Practice

LGBTQ+

LGBTQ+ clients often seek therapy for issues that are not so different from those presented by all therapy clients. Although, the social context can add layers of oppression, historical and current traumas, discrimination and intolerance. This hurt may show up within families, religious organizations, healthcare systems, media and local communities. Psychologists at Cascade are LGBTQ+ and Queer affirming, and bring compassion and understanding to our work together.

Couples/Family Therapy

Relationship stress can sometimes become overwhelming. You may feel stuck in a never ending cycle of the same arguments, hurt feelings and disconnection. Psychologists at Cascade Health have extensive experience working with family of origin and/or chosen family stress and conflict, partner(s)/intimate relationships, CNM/poly relationships, and parenting issues. Sometimes relationships can use some support and outside perspective. All couples therapy services are offered virtually.

Gender Affirming Care

Are you unsure about your identity? Are you starting or in the process of transitioning (socially, legally or medically)? We can support your identity exploration journey and help you navigate the process. Psychologists are gender affirming therapists, members of the Trans Affirming Network through Skipping Stone, and follow the WPATH’s (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) Standard of Care.

Addiction

Addiction can take many forms and show up in many ways. Psychologists at Cascade Health have specific education, training and work experience that specializes in addiction and mental health. Cascade Health takes a harm reduction, client directed approach to help clients achieve success in reducing, limiting or eliminating substance use and/or addictive behaviors.

Mental Health

If your mental health is struggling, reaching out for support can sometimes feel like one more overwhelming thing to do. Making one difficult step to begin therapy can give you the power to create real and lasting changes in the way you behave, think, and cope on a daily basis. Some common mental health concerns we work with include trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression and emotion regulation.

Healthcare Worker/First Responder Burnout

Shift work, on-call, overtime, low staffing, risk exposure, all while working in a high stress environment can challenge the most resilient individuals. All of these factors can stretch providers and first responders to the breaking point. Have you wanted to work with a therapist who understands the stakes of the healthcare world? Trauma

Trauma is a wound, it is what happens inside you in response to what happened to you. Trauma is prevalent, intergenerational and shapes how we see and exist in the world. Cascade Health specializes in trauma therapy and trauma informed care and offers an evidence based approach to healing. Psychologists at Cascade have extensive training and experience working with and treating complex trauma (C-PTSD).

Relationship Estrangement

Estrangement is a complex issue, and is more common than you may think. It can look like strain, distance, or an emotional detachment from others, or the total loss of a meaningful relationship entirely. This painful and complex occurrence can leave us feeling alone in our hurt. Addressing estrangement in therapy involves exploring the pain, grief and loss, fractured relationships, also while fostering areas for individual growth. Therapy can assist in curating a life with safe, supportive and healthy relationships. Psychologists at Cascade each have personal experience in this arena.
